These challenges are influencing the way we all work and run businesses for ever. With organisations adapting to meet new challenges seemingly overnight, we have all learnt an enormous amount, good and bad, about how people work, collaborate, learn and develop, and are motivated. This series looks at how can we take these lessons into the new world of work.

Aoife O’Brien is based in Dublin and runs a consultancy called Happier at Work, is a keynote speaker at many events, and also hosts The Happier at Work Podcast. The podcast is a weekly business podcast for HR and business leaders which hosts guest interviews on leadership; wellbeing at work; inclusion and diversity; and the future of work. Aoife posts and talks about issues like Imposter Syndrome, How to Retain Staff, How to motivate staff etc.

Almuth balances an active career in academia with a portfolio of consultancy activities, both in independent practice and as an associate with other consultancies. Her aim is to use and advance practice through the use of psychological theory for the benefit of people and organisations.

Jacqueline de Rojas is Chair of The Institute of Coding and recently stood down as the President of techUK. She holds non-exec positions at Rightmove, Costain Group, and FDM Group. Jacqueline is passionate about diversity and inclusion, and acts in an advisory capacity and tech ambassador for many organisations. She was awarded CBE in the Queen's New Year Honours 2018 for services to International Trade in Technology.

In the latest episode of ‘Working It Out’ – our podcast dedicated to exploring the issues around successful business life – our very own Nick Gallimore sat down with host Louise Minchin to discuss performance management and how getting it right (or wrong!) can alter a business’ performance.

In the first episode, we look at the role of remote leaders and how they can adapt their approach to the new hybrid model of working. Louise is joined by author and leadership expert, Mike Parkes. With over 30 years of coaching remote leaders, Mike talks about the key challenges leaders face and how they can ensure their teams’ productivity.

In our second episode, Louise talks to Catherine Loveday, Professor of Neuropsychology at University of Westminster, about the effect that remote working is having on our brains and ability to concentrate. Catherine discusses the effects of replacing face to face interaction with video calls and specifically how this has impacted our productivity.

This episode is an interview with Steve Shutts, CEO of Astriid, a charity that connects individuals suffering from long term chronic illness (but still able to work) with organisations who are looking for resource.
