Our specialist GP online consultation software, has won ‘Best Use of AI for Covid 19’ in Health Tech Digital’s 2023 Awards. PATCHS, a Cloud based GP online consultation tool was recognised for its use of Artificial Intelligence in triage and workflow management to help GP practices manage rising levels of patient demand, while also improving patient access. PATCHS enables patients to contact their GP from their practice website or smartphone, dramatically reducing the pressure on phone lines and reception teams as well as eliminating the need for most patients to attend the practice in person. In doing so, it means patients with urgent requests can get through to their practice on the phone faster, while GPs can manage non-urgent requests online in their own time based on clinical priority. PATCHS’ triage and workflow functionality enables practices to handle hundreds of requests simultaneously, allowing practice staff to prioritise and signpost patients to the right care provider in real-time, thus reducing their workload.
Ric Thompson, Managing Director, Advanced Health and Care commented:
“We are thrilled that PATCHS has been recognised at the Health Tech Digital Awards. We launched the solution just before the COVID-19 pandemic and it has proved to be a lifeline for many patients and practices, enabling safe and efficient care remotely at a time when many face-to-face services were unavailable. PATCHS innovative use of Artificial Intelligence, which helps practices manage rising levels of patient demand whilst simultaneously improving patient access, has made it extremely popular with GPs and practice managers.”
Dr Ben Brown, Medical Director, Spectra Analytics Ltd and the University of Manchester, who was involved in the development of PATCHS commented:
“PATCHS has been adopted by GP practices across England and Wales because it combines an easy to use design with powerful functionality. It is the first NHS-approved online consultation system for primary care that uses machine learning to automate the triage and workflow of patients’ requests. Patient requests can be written as free text narratives ensuring and doesn’t require long multiple choice questionnaires, ensuring that the system is accessible to all. PATCHS has a longstanding commitment to academic research to ensure it has a robust evidence base for its use, including its artificial intelligence.”
Dr Tauseef Manzoor, GP Partner, Cleckheaton Group Practice and user of PATCHS commented:
“I’ve found it to be really effective, really useful, quite seamless in the way it blends into SystmOne and allows us to risk stratify patients much more effectively. Artificial intelligence and electronic consultations are the future of communicating with our patients. We found that PATCHS is able to integrate all of these into one system.”
